This was the third carved guitar we built. Looking to explore some sonic alternatives, we began to experiment with the neck/body union. The first two carved Archtops in my opinion were built rather heavy, while having great projection they were lacking some quality to the acoustic sound. It was this missing element that ultimately inspired me to create this instrument. With a shallow neck angle and tap tuned top this box came alive and extremely responsive. Due to the lessened stress to the body we were able to greatly reduce the thickness of the top, bracing and back plates. The bass opened right up making this thinline 17” jazz box sound enormous. The quality of sound on this particular guitar remains the goal for most of our production preludes.
